Larry Byrne grew up on the South Side of Chicago where resources were scarce. Despite his humble beginnings, Larry Byrne made education a priority and eventually became a successful entrepreneur. In 1995, Larry and Margaret founded The Byrne Foundation in Denver to provide scholarships and better prepare struggling high school students for college and future employment. Today, their initiative is known as Byrne Urban Scholars — a professionally staffed, non-profit, tax-exempt public charity that has helped over 250 struggling young people reach their potential in high school and beyond.
